Both sides in this debate need to pull their heads out. To continue life as we know it..we'll need to drill drill drill...and put up wind mills.

When will you greenies give it a rest? 1969 was 40 years ago. We all need the oil. Even you.

Oil is a natural resource that comes from the ground. At first, producers ran crude down creekbeds to open crude pits. The pits stayed in use till about the 1960s. Talk about leaks. The evidence is still there in the creek beds. How did county survive this Mr Nava?
In fact...the Earth seeps (ie leaks) around 100 barrels everyday into what we lately call 'the environment'. Heck oil is part of the environment.
Not that we excuse poor oilfield practice. But not a soul has been injured, made sick, or even required a Band Aid. Cleanup was quick (and costly) every time.
If all this grandstanding and scaremongering is appropriate for Greka, what are we going to do about the obscene spillage by nature.
Should we cancel Earth Day Mr Nava?

Have any of you calling for a Greka shutdown been personnally injured? Have you been hospitalized or received medical treatment? Have you even seen one of these spills before it was scooped up?
If not...what is your problem really?

The Earth has a far worse spill record than Greka. It spills about 100 barrels a day over the county. Thats over 1.5 million gallons a year. Where is the outrage about that?
Shouldn't we put the Earth out of business? Shouldn't we at least cancel Earth Day?

With that attitude drberticus, you could get a job anytime at the fire department or EPA.

After the EPA loots Greka and ride out of town as your heros... um.....whos left to deal with the rest of the oilfield stuff out there?
The county inspectors appear competent. Do we really need federal avengers? Can we afford them?

Take a breath Anonymouse.
Tell us please if you have been hurt or need medical attention from any one (or all) of the half million gallons of pollutants not yet resolved in the county?
Has anyone been hospitalized due to Greka crude oozing from valves stuffed with t-shirts?
Has anyone even needed a Band Aid?
Is the sky really falling in....or do you simply have a flair for the melodramatic?

The EPA will be here to the end all right... They'll stay until they get what they came for. Any bets on how much?

Lois Capps and all of her Santa Barbara greenie friends are not riding mules along dirt trails. They drive cars (usually big ones) on asphalt freeways. As green and moral as they are...they burn their share of oil. Yet they never miss a chance to moralize at us about OUR use of oil.
Give it a rest please Lois.
