If they do not like the job or the pay they should leave. With the pay and benifits there would be 10 people lined up for each job. And yes CEO's make more than janitors. What the UC should do is go out to bid to local contractors for the landcape maintance , the janitorial, food service, ect, ect. , the cost would drop by 40%

Sad to read what is about to happen on the Gaviota Coast and Dos Pueblos ranch. Keep an eye out on the Bishop Ranch, the developers who got the city council elected with there $ are soon going to call in there debt. Two wonderfull open spaces that should stay in ag.

On The Great Gap Fire of 2008

The S.B. independent has earned my respect on the outstanding coverage of this fire. I have a engine crew in my driveway at the moment, it is a bit scary, but being able to stay informed during the day while cutting brush ect, made it much less stress. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Real good to see that D.C. 10 over the western edge this morning near Dos Pueblos, send him back for another drop. Thanks to whom ever is making the calls on the drops. And thanks to this web site which should win a prize for this coverage.

On Gap Fire Moves Towards Condor Peak

Last night we watched the fire creeping west, it appeared to be approaching the northern reaches of Dos Pueblos canyon. Lets hope we can get that D.C. 10 on that today. That is some rugged terrain and it would be a shame to see the Gaviota coast burn. Dos Pueblos canyon is one of the largest and signifigant riparian habitates on the coast, lets save it. Thanks to the Independent for the best coverage of the fire, and thanks to the firefighters.

On Teen Dead After Cabrillo Boulevard Stabbing

You guys have the best news on the fire, thanks, please update as freqently as possible. What is up with keyt, they need to rename it "the history channel" And whey can't they give some air time to this fire? Let's get some containment on this fire today. Hope to see that dc 10 all day. A shame they closed the S.B. airport fire bomber station 2 years ago, could sure use it now.
