The only ones that come out looser's are the students but then they wouldn't know the difference anyway. Seems like the Special Ed branch is on the way out and into the private sector only if the School Board can't retify this problem.

I could be negitive but for the Holiday Season, I'll be positive. I can believe this Group can go far but money is always the problem and everywhere. They have contracts with and are working on one or more of the 30-plus projects being developed at any given time. These include educational videos for the City of Santa Barbara’s Creeks Division, public service announcements for the County of Ventura’s AIDS program, and print advertising design for 'Tinta Latina', 'El Mexicano', and 'Shape of Voice'. This is great and that each person makes $10 per hour is also a plus. These kids DO have more to offer than violence, remember many of the Actors, Producers and Directors in Minority Film Actors Guild and BET, came from L.A. Gangs (of Bloods and Crips). I-Tea, Ice-Cube and Spike Lee. They were hardcore gang-bangers but decided to get out and be something. Here we have a Group that is committed to really assisting hard-core gang-bangers and entry-level bangers to leave the Gang life and "Get-a-life". Support from the Community should be forth comming, not suspicion and criticism. More Groups should offer more than games to interest our young Santa Barbarians to live better and protect thier community.

Ice Plant, is another excellent fire retardant plant and is one of the main plants in the LA Foothills; protecting homes. Also, it is a low cost, water tolerant plant belonging to the Cactus family. There is another plant with very sharp thorns, has a dry-like brittle bark but retains its moisture and has pretty little red flowers. The name of this flower escapes me but it to is a Wild Desert plant and drought resistant also. Both require little to no water and burn very slow during a fire.

I strongly agree with 'equus_posteriori'. The only reason that the Courts of California and other States have allowed Gays to marry is because of how our Constitutions are written. We want OUR rights to NOT be infringed but we want to infring on other peoples rights. GAYS should be allowed to marry and be reconized as per the Constitution. I am Str8 but I also understand Gays flight from persecution ragarding their rights. Religion, will continue to be the arguement of those who wish to deny gays of their Constitutional rights of equallity in OUR Country but they themselves must understand, that if they remain silent, they will be passed over. Gays need to band together and push the legal, Constitutional rights as Americans and fight those's who would push them back to being just deviants. Living in "Backwards", Virginia. The LAW is the CHURCH. Those who are the State Congress, are GOD fearing HOMO-phobes who are terrified of GAY people and have already squashed their rights in this State. California Gays, must fight on to secure their Rights or end-up like the Virginia Gays; deviants to be persecuted.

I feel your worry. I was raised in Goleta and attended the SBCC. I have stayed abreast of the going-ons in Santa Barbara County because it is where I call home. When the fires, earthquakes, storms and other disasters stike California, I click into the Indi Website for the up-to-date information. I live further than you, out here on the East Coast (DC) but have to stay in touch with the area that will always e my true home.

When I lived in Goleta, my parents had our roof redone. They had contemplated using the Wood Shingles, like as before but my Mother was involved with Neighborhood Watch and had contacts to the Fire Department. The Fire Department advised my parents to use Asphalt Tiles, in place of wood shingles, due to there fire retardant qualities. Not long after and during the winter, our neighbors had a fire going in their fireplace and the embers from the top of the chimney lit their roof afire. Those same embers had landed on our roof but on like the neighbors the fire had NO fuel to burn with and we were saved. The next year the nieghbors house was rebuilt and this time with a Asphalt roof.
Melisande, is right about the roof sprinklers. I had a classmate who's family back in the early 80's, had their home in the upper La. Patera area fixed with sprinklers on their roof and tall sprinklers at the corners on their yard. Those sprinklers were fed by the pool's pumps when the threat of fire was near. We all laughed but they were prepared.

I'm NOT sorry that Mr. Tassel, will be Prosecuted for his protest on the 101. I was late for a Business breakfast meeting, my client was held-up in the traffic, my little girl was late for school, my wife had to wait for the traffic to be re-routed and missed her hair appointment.
YOU! Military people think you should be rewarded for your so-called service in the Armed Forces. You chose to be a soldier and NOT a contributing American. We, Joe 6-pack, pays you people alot of LIP-service but dying in a WAR is YOUR job, NOT mine.
The WAR is NOT here in America, it's over there!
If you can't handle the job, don't sign-up. NO one ever asked you to protect us. Since that government farce terrorist attack in New York, where the Government blew-up the Twin-Towers so they could interupt our busy lives, to invade a little poor Country just to boost morale in the military, doesn't mean we sure be there now. There are more inportant things to worry about.
My wifes hair and nails need care, my DOG is deficating on the flower garden, my boss wants the order fulfilled by tomorrow or I might not get my 3.9% raise. I HAVE to get that raise or I won't be able to buy that new Mercedes 5000, with GPS thingy. My little girl is having a play at school and wants me and the busy wife to take time off from OUR busy lifestyle to see this play. So you can see why I DON'T have time to listen or give a rat's behind if Mr. Tassel lost friends in some faraway Country. I am way TOO busy and important to care or feel anything for you or Mr. Tassel.
Anyway, enjoy your NOT so important life.

That's nice Grace but you are missing the BIG picture and when you grow-up, and become an adult, the world and the people you will meet will teach you the right way to see gay people; as evil and bad. People that MUST be punished for their choices and the way they love. As you MATURE, you will learn that GAY people are the root of all evil, that GOD hates them and that only your Priest, Rabbi or Minister can marry a true family; a Male and Female.
You will learn this or your church will Re-educate you through guilt and ridicule. Eventually, YOUR Government, will teach you that GAY people should be imprisoned or put to death for the way they love or show affection openly.
This my dear young and inocent child, is the way of the American people and you will learn this or be imprisoned or put to death yourself.
Love and Marriage are exclusively for strong religous, God-fearing, Straight people ONLY and these people are the ones that GOD only loves.

Here in Virginia, Civil Union and Gay Marraige are OUTLAWED and forbidden. When in 2002, the Prop., was on the ballet for Gay Marraige, it failed and all so did Common Law Marraige and Civil Union. The State, chose that either two people, specifically Male and Female only, had to be married in a church. No longer could a male and female couple in a Civil Union, because the people of the State of Virginia, believe that only a Church Marriage was legal and binding; yet divorce is completely legal and allowed. Our family up-bring has always told us that, only a man and woman are allowed to marry and anything else is forbidden. That and our religous belief system (be it any religon) has been our compass for designating right from wrong. Right is male and female marriage, Wrong is anything different from the first. I believe that Gays should be allowed marraige. What the Gay public needs to do, is rally together and FORCE those GOD fearring hypocrits to eat their words regarding the holiness of marraige. Fight to make Divorce, an illegal alternative to a bad marraige. This way when they (Straight America) complain or vote against the illegality of divorce on whatever false or privileged reasoning and the Prop against divorce fails, then try to push for Gay Marraige. By using the Straight America's vote against divorce, then challenge the supposiveness of Holiness of male and female with the divorce issue. If Marraige is so holy and special, why is divoce allowed to terminate a marraige?. Let the Straight Americans figuer that one out!

Chapprel, tall weeds, dried grass, "Tubbleweed", fallen branch's and dead trees. These all contribute to the FIRE problem. When your remodelling or re-building your home or just your roof, use asphalt shingles and fire retardant materials. As I view over-head photo's of peoples homes, I was able to pick-out the homes that were built with the same old materials. Probably, from laziness or complentancy many homes were destroyed from poor construction materials or poor landscaping. Every home owner is responisible for their home and neighborhood, whether burgleries or fires.
