The district attorney should have mercy on this poor man. He's suffered enough, already! To require him to serve time would be a disservice to the taxpayers.

I am quite surprised the judge allowed this. He has been in bed with the prosecutor for the duration of this trial.

Where are we going to get the $15 million each year to operate the jail once its completed? Regarding rehabilitation in jails, it doesn't happen. In fact, many of those who weren't hardened criminals when they first went to jail, became more apt to continue a life of crime after spending time in jail.

If all drugs were decriminalized, the vast majority of crime would end and we could focus our attention on those who really deserve to be incarcerated.

Bravo to Petrini's and Farmer Boy who have rolled back prices. Carlito's on the other hand will continue to gouge the customers with high prices.

So we will be spending how many dollars to house this old man in jail? Old people who are suicidal belong in mental health institutions, not jail. If he were determined to be a danger to himself or others he should have been put on a 5150 (involuntary mental health hold) in a gero-psych ward.

Bravo! to the Public Defender for a job well done. It is the responsibility of the defense attorney to provide his client with the best defense possible and to achieve the best sentence available if there is a conviction.

By the way, Casa Serena is a residential treatment program for women only!!

Isn't it better for someone who is determined to commit suicide to do it from the Cold Springs bridge instead of jumping off an overpass where cars are speeding underneath? There is no need to involve others, except emergency personnel, who would be traumatized by hitting a jumper off an overpass.

The reality is that we can't save everyone from themselves.

Secede from the union is the best idea yet. If we joined with Oregon and Washington we would have one of the best countries in the world and we wouldn't have to worry about morons in Washington D.C. dictating how we live.

California already has the sixth strongest economy in the world. We don't need the rest of the county as much as they need us.

Goleta vs. Santa Barbara? There is no comparison! Santa Barbara is clearly superior!
