PangZhu said - "Get this, they even can get the same benefits as legally married couples without even being married to anybody, it's called a civil union. If you ask me it sounds like homosexual couples are getting special preferential treatment. And yet they still complain ..."
And black people used to have to drink from separate fountains. But, hey, it's the same water, right? ... You know, it wasn't too long ago that interracial couples weren't allowed to marry either. If that were still the case today, we wouldn't have president-elect Barack Obama.
And for those of you making statements like you voted yes on 8 because you think gays want to "rub your noses in it" and such nonsense, I ask that you really listen to yourselves. These people (and they are people by the way) are fighting for the right to be considered equal to you and me. I think that's a little bigger than them just being a bunch of whiners. Their cause is just, and your thinking will go the way of the dinosaurs.

I totally agree with your overall point here, Starshine.
What irks me, however, is that the same abstinence only, family values crowd that impeached Bill Clinton for his sexual behavior is now telling us that discussion of Palin's kid is off the table. At the end of the day, I don't care that Palin's 17-year-old daughter was impregnated by an 18-year-old thug. But I do care that the Righties get to constantly paint Dems as immoral when it suits their needs, but we are not allowed to talk about their hypocrisy.
As Bill Maher pointed out recently, if Barack Obama had a 17-year-old pregnant daughter, his presidential run would be over. Yet, Palin can just say, "Hey, it's a family matter." And that's the end of the story. This is how the media leans right.

Thanks for the great column. If we all flim a jib-jab now and then, we'll be on our way to energy independence.

I love how Wendy always tries to deflect everything to the Union. It's like -- if it wasn't for that pesky Union -- all those 60+ people who quit or have been fired would think she's doing a heck-of-a-job. She should just hire a bunch of monkeys who will do her bidding without question. She hates people (and loves animals) anyway.

It just amazes me that -- with all the scientists and all the proof -- people still call global warming a hoax. You can't say climate change is a hoax just because you want it to be.
And your "trees love CO2" comment shows your lack of understanding for this important subject. The issue is not that CO2 is bad; the issue is that "too much" CO2 is bad.

Nice column, Starshine. I think you've started a great family tradition. If you can't find anyone next year, please stop by. I like cider and brownies ... a lot :)

I saw this Ecko guy on The Today Show recently. He's really funny.

Why, all of a sudden, do I feel like shopping for shoes?
