"It seems like you are saying that the bank deserved to be robbed. "

It doesn't seem that way to intelligent people.

It's notable that Clausen doesn't challenge the facts Binky laid out or admit to his own misrepresentations and false charges against the Sierra Club.

As for Dr. Sanders, does it not occur to him that the claim that GOO, the EDC, and the Sierra Club sould out for a few pieces of silver is simply implausible? He later states "While EDC, GOO, and CPA may have gone into these negotiations with good intentions" -- you can't have it both ways; either their intentions are good, or they sold out. The charge that they sold out seems to be based on the notion that it is impossible for someone you disagree with to have good intentions, or even that it's impossible for someone who made a mistake in judgment had good intentions, but Dr. Sanders clearly knows better; the claim that they sold out is simply irrational, and the same is true of the charge against Das.

And 4Oceans:
"Now we 'endorse' Das Williams for being 'for' offshore oil drilling?!?"

No, Das Williams was endorsed for having a good environmental track record, for being someone whose vision is in line with Sierra Club policies. The SC has rigid criteria for endorsement, and both Das Williams and Susan Jordan qualify, even though they disagree about PXP. Is that really so hard to understand?

"I'm so confused"

Yes, apparently.

On Sierra Club Endorses Both Williams and Jordan

I'm glad that no one I know is this shallow.

The Sierra Club endorsed both Das Williams and Susan Jordan, but I suspect they would not have endorsed the latter if they had known what a sleazy campaign she would run, with her misleading attack ads, now featuring this libelous letter by Paul Mason. He twice attacks Williams with the word "exploit", but where's his evidence? This may be Mason's personal belief, but no person of character would publish such a charge as if it were a fact.

"Encouraging our children to walk and bike to school for all the right reasons ignores the realities of life in 2010"

Um, the reality is type 2 diabetes. You need to get your risk assessment in order.

"Take the time to look at the long list of meaningful endorsements for Susan Jordan and vote accordingly. "

What long list? Das Williams' list is at http://endorsements.daswilliams.org/

Vote accordingly indeed.

"the doomed PXP deal opposed by nearly the entire environmental community in California, including Susan Jordan"

What a ridiculous lie. It's the environmental community, including GOO, the EDC, and the Sierra Club that has supported the PXP deal as a way to stop the ongoing offshore drilling on existing platforms. People can honestly disagree about PXP, but Susan Jordan has gone out of her way to lie and to smear Das Williams; even if I had been inclined to vote for her, I would not do so given her recent outrageous sleazy mailers.

Funny how Montecito_Rat, whose comment is full of hate, accuses someone else of hate. And cj138 writes "Pay for past transgressions? Put your white guilt aside for a minute" when it was Mr. Pommier who referred to restitution; cj138 would better address that comment to MacMahler above.

Great injustices were done -- to people now dead, by people now dead. If you are opposed to injustice, there is plenty going on right now; that's where I prefer to put my energies, not toward spirits and ghosts.
