My heart goes out to everyone who lost their homes in this terrible fire...and want to report a terrible loss of friends Marcy Carsey and Susan Baerwald, who had been amassing American folk art for their Summerland store, Just Folk - many said their collection was one of the most important American folk art collections in this country, many irreplaceable pieces...stored in Marcy's home at the top of La Paz road, above Westmont. The entire collection, gathered over five years, incredible art, many old pieces, was stored in this home, and all of it is gone. Ah, Dave Johnson, Clare G., and everyone else, I am so sorry! I have been out of my house since Thursday and am going home today, and cannot imagine what it would be like not to have a home to go to...Thank you, dear firefighters, you are such HEROES~! Hillary

Like all astute businessmen, Caruso has certainly read "The Art of War," which is how to win business deals and overcome your enemy. One important way to do it is to divide and conquer. Differences of opinion are fine - that makes life interesting. But look at the division this man has created in the community. Look at the vitriol, the hate! Look at neighbors slamming neighbors! Caruso did NOT have our community at heart. He is an out-of-town developer who wants what he wants when he wants it. He came in, and in the guise of schmoozing, started pitting one side of the community against the other, fueling hate, rudeness, rage - division. Please examine your own rages that you did NOT have before this man came to town. Thank you, Mr. Caruso, for blessing our community the way you have.

THIS IS A BUMMER! I did all my business in there, those guys always helped, replaced batteries, cleaned lenses, were encouraging to everyone, you bought cameras and lenses there and they would help all the way through. Sad, sad sad!

- $768,185 in reductions to the fire department...?????????
Oy vey.
Santa Barbara about burned down in the Zaca Fire? This is all very tough stuff, how to spend what and where, how to cut back intelligently,...but this cut (big!) seems a little foolhardy, if you ask me. If we burn, what good is a desk and/or job, and/or etc., if we are all in ashes.

please take a second and remember being a teenager.... then think about all of the time and money spent informing our kids regarding the perils of drugs, alcohol and smoking....it is now more than evident that the peril of fire in california should be included in that curriculum..let the anger subside and fix the problem...every seventh grader should be taught about the danger of fire here in california and then again in ninth grade. get the message out. i have to admit, when i moved here @ the age of 19 from the east coast, i probably would have made a bonfire too...
