The City Parks & Recreation Department will close the Kid’s World playground structure at Garden and Micheltorena streets beginning Monday, November 9, for its annual refurbishment. The rest of the large, two-block Alameda Park will remain open and fully functional while the playground area is being touched up. Though no additions or changes to the play structure are intended at this point, the city crews will power-wash the wooden structure, re-stain the wood, and add new sand to the ground around the structure, all of which may take up to two weeks. The goal is to keep the playground looking new and functioning safely, as it is a popular site for families. The city expects to be ready to reopen the structure before Thanksgiving, strengthened for another year of use.
