Although naming something Taste of the Town might seem like hyperbole, it’s not in this case, given 37 restaurants and 40 wineries from the area will provide the food and drink for the 27th annual version of this benefit to fight arthritis. We’re talking Santa Barbara’s best, from Alma Rosa to Whitcraft on the wine front, from A Piece of Cake to the Wine Cask for food. As if that’s not enough, the event is held at Riviera Park Gardens (2030 Alameda Padre Serra), so your eyes get to feast on the spectacular Pacific, too. This year’s guest chef gig goes to Chris Barbato from New Orleans’ Commander’s Palace, so expect a Cajun specialty to be among the delights. Not that our own Richard Yates and Tina Takaya, this year’s honorary chairs and owners of Opal, won’t also cook up something fine. Please your palate, fill your belly, and help the Arthritis Foundation on Sunday, September 7, noon to 3 p.m. For tickets, call 563-4685 or visit TasteofTheTownSantaBarbara.com.
