This Saturday, May 3, will mark the fifth year of the Mother’s Day 5/10K race and family festival at Goleta Beach Park from 8 a.m.-noon, this year with UCSB’s men’s and women’s soccer teams hosting the festivities.

Whether you decide to walk, run, or just come to enjoy the festivities, this event is for everyone. For the serious runner, this is a USA Track & Field-sanctioned event as well as a Santa Barbara Grand Prix event. Both the 5K and 10K are flat and fast, starting and ending at Goleta Beach Park. The course is perfect for recreational walkers and runners and their families. Afterwards, parents can relax while their children are enjoying art projects, face painting, touch tanks, children’s fun run, and more. Over 75 family-centered vendors, both business and non-profit will have booths set up with an array of activities, food and fun. Additionally, there will be a bone marrow drive. With the success of last year’s event, which featured more than 500 runners and 1500 people, event coordinators are excited to top those high numbers this year. “There’s something for everyone at this unique event and it’s a great way to kick off Mother’s Day festivities as well as role model the importance of family health and fitness,” said Jamie Allison, CEO and founder of Moms In Motion, a previous sponsor for the event.
