The City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department, the Franceschi Park Advisory Committee, and the Riviera Homeowners Association are hosting a Franceschi work day Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m.-noon. The work will focus on an area of the park that will hold a new planting demonstration bed, which will highlight many of the plants introduced by Dr. Francesco Franceschi nearly a century ago. Volunteers can help trim plants, clear paths, and perform general park cleanup. Long shirts are advised, and participants are asked to bring small tools, such as rakes, hedge trimmers, clippers, and gloves. Please carpool as there is limited parking. Call 564-5484 to RSVP.
