Ross Nolan and Ryan McNicholas, members of UCSB’s College Republicans, appeared on the 7/22 episode of Fox News show Hannity & Colmes to discuss a YouTube video they had posted depicting a March 2008 war protest in Santa Barbara. The video features angry statements by protestors, one of whom spits on Nolan, an Iraq War veteran. On the show, the students acknowledged that not all people against the war are “anti-American,” but nonetheless characterized the rally as “full of hate.” (/warprotest731)

The National Labor Relations Board’s general counsel announced Monday that it will prosecute the Santa Barbara News-Press for failure to bargain in good faith with the Teamsters Union, which is representing newsroom employees. Negotiations began in November with little progress so far. “Once we have a good agreement in place, the union will be happy to help the News-Press gain back lost readership and advertising revenue,” said union negotiator Nick Caruso.
