Beginning 8/1, the Santa Barbara Central Public Library will close at 8 p.m. — one hour earlier, Mondays through Thursdays, as a result of a citywide cost-cutting effort. Library services manager Myra Nicholas said that the library has received few complaints about the change, which will save the library about $18,000 per year. (/libraryhours)
