Ever wonder what it’s like to be out in the vineyards just as those yummy grapes reach the right brix and are ready for harvest? Wonder no more as pinotharvest.com will feature live from the frontlines blogging by pinot noir stars from the Willamette Valley in Oregon to the fabled Sta. Rita Hills close to home. This unprecedented effort to capture a harvest in the moment will include commentary from many winemakers, such as favorites Jim Clendenen from Au Bon Climat, Peter Cargasacchi from Cargasacchi Vineyard, Wes Hagen from Clos Pepe Vineyards, and Brian Loring from the Loring Wine Company. The site won’t allow comments—years from when an actual wine will be released, what’s the point?—but will give, as Loring notes, “A collective of harvest experiences and insights. If you want to know about the West Coast’s pinot harvest, and the people involved, this is the blog to bookmark. Visitors can check in daily for regular updates or click on favorite posters for specifics from their vineyards or appellations.” The site will be updating at least through November 1, but could end up a permanent place for people to say getting to pinot you.
