Thai food lovers need not be disappointed that Mesa Thai Cuisine has closed its doors because Meun Fan Thai Café took over the space last month. New owner Rojana Saisut really has a handle on things, seemingly dodging any bumps along the road of a restaurant’s first month. The atmosphere is comfortably inviting and clean with plenty of mahogany-colored tables to enjoy lunch, dinner, or an afternoon snack. Sweet-smelling, long-grained jasmine rice is a staple in Thai cuisine, and Meun Fan (which means “like a dream”) offers a large selection of MSG-free options to accompany the naturally aromatic base. Pad Thai and curry noodles, hot basil seafood, spicy lemon grass soups, and egg rolls are emboldened by fresh herbs, Kaffir lime leaves, and chilies. The chef will tailor the spiciness of any dish on the three-page-long menu to fit your liking. Lunch specials ($8.95) run Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and feature a delicious selection of Pad Thai, yellow curry, and spicy eggplant (to name a few). Each of these dishes is served with steamed rice and either the soup of the day or lunch salad. The menu offers something for everybody and is sure to become a new Mesa hotspot.
