Among the changes made by Rick Caruso in between Montecito Planning Commission hearings on his increasingly controversial Miramar project was the decision to eliminate the second-floor spa room, according to reports. Critics have clamored about the bulk and scale of the project, especially for the small, lush, beachside community of Montecito. The height of the building will be reduced by 11 feet, Caruso said, reducing the mass of the building as seen from South Jameson Lane.
