While the sign still reads Summerland Market, the refurbished store is now officially open as Cantwell’s Summerland Market at 2580 Lillie Avenue. Jim Gally, who owns Cantwell’s Market on Arrellaga and State streets, has taken over the new location in Summerland adjacent to the 101. The store has a similar feel as its downtown location, selling groceries in the same quaint space as its deli. Fresh produce, meats, and a small wine selection line the aisles as well as a variety of juices, salsas, cold cuts, and dips. Grab some cheese, crackers, stuffed chicken breasts, and a container of gourmet pesto to enjoy outside at one of the many picnic tables. Indoor seating is also available as well as an additional outdoor space where patrons can eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner while listening to the lull of softly flowing fountains.
