Nikki Doner-Sherwood, licensed acupuncturist and former clinic director of the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine’s intern clinic, will be opening the Community-Centered Oriental Medicine Clinic on January 7, 2008. One year ago, the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine announced it would be closing after 25 years of business. At the time, it was decided that the intern clinic would continue serving patients only until December ’07. But, after years of treating patients who are supported by low-cost treatments, Doner-Sherwood understood the need to continue these efforts. The community clinic, which will be located at 1900 State Street in Suite C, will also serve patients who benefit from low-cost treatments. Fees are based on a sliding-fee scale at $27-$40 per treatment with each patient determining what they are able to pay — no financial documentation is required. An average acupuncture treatment outside of this clinic would range from $75-$100 per treatment. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 687-7328 or visit yourccom.com.
