In Spain, the Grenache grape is called Garnacha, but it’s every bit as sexy a grape as we find here stateside, or in France, where Grenache is widely planted and revered. Grenaches are lovely, fruit forward, floral, and layered with spice and herbal notes. It’s hard to go wrong with a Grenache, whether it’s made into a deep, gorgeous red wine, or a lighter lovely rose, but Grenaches can be expensive. They’re gaining popularity in the U.S. and many Central Coast Grenaches are getting pretty pricey. They’re certainly worth trying, but they’re perhaps more for special occasions. For everyday drinking, Spanish Garnachas are oftentimes more affordable, and are absolutely daring and alluring.

Rosado is Spanish for rose, and this rose is the perfect wine for a Friday night, just before you bust out your finest fashionista threads for a night out on the town. Heady, sexy, suggestive fragrances of sun-ripened backyard strawberries, fresh geraniums, and cardamom are ample throughout.
Sometimes it can be intimidating ordering a wine in a language that’s not your native tongue, but this Garnacha is just way too good to worry about bruising your pride a bit. At only $12 a bottle, it’s worth ordering and pouring for your honey. So, practice your best Spanish accent and step up to the counter. You should be able to find this Garnacha at most fine wine shops or on-line. Believe me, at this price, this sexy wine is too good not to buy.
