Description: Walking LA features imagery and text collected during Wookey’s two and a half year long research project focused on walking in Los Angeles. Considering the perspective of the pedestrian, Wookey, whose performances often feature the body as the medium of expression, uses the city’s sights and streets to provide a video backdrop for performers who interact through movement and dance. The result is a meeting ground of documentation, narration, and abstraction that celebrates the subsurface layers of a city made available only to the walking viewer.
