Description: Based on poems, ballads, songs and tavern tales transcribed by monks in the 12th century, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana enjoys a unique niche in both contemporary culture and the classical world. O Fortuna, the opening and closing movements of the piece, has been used in hundreds of films and television commercials and is a mainstay of classical music performances.
