When Past is Present
SBCC Adult Ed presents a FREE workshop with David Richo, Ph.D.
When: Saturday, May 17, 2008, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Where: Wake Ctr., 300 N. Turnpike Rd., Santa Barbara
Cost: Free
Age limit: Not available
Categories: Workshops
Description: Humans seem hard-wired to replay the past, especially when our past includes emotional pain or disappointment. Though most of us want to move on from the past, we tend to go through our lives simply casting new people in the roles of key people, such as our parents or any significant person with whom there is still unfinished business.
We can learn to notice clues about how our past is still very much alive in our present-day relationships. In this seminar, we explore how our childhood and our past relationships figure into our present relationships, psychologically, spiritually, and in our bodies too.
Dr. David Richo will be joined by Spencer Sherman Ph.D. on “How our Childhood Affects our Adult Relationships,” Judith Brown, Ph.D. MFT, on “The Influence of Past Relationships on Present Ones,” and Rae Johnson, Ph.D., RSMT, RSW, on “How the Body Saves Up our Hurts and Shows us a Path for Healing.”
6 contact hours for RN/LVN, CNA, MFT/LCSW
You may pre-register at the Schott or Wake Centers, or, if you prefer, at the door on the day of the conference
