Tribo de Jah

Reggae Music

When: Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, 9 p.m.

Where: SOhO, 1221 State St., Santa Barbara

Cost: $20

Age limit: 21+

Categories: Reggae

Description: Zion Eye Productions brings the one-of-kind Brazillian-Reggae band Tribo De Jah, to SohO this month, a group of six musicians, five of which are blind. Their front man is the well known Brazillian vocalist Fauzi Beydoun and is the only member with complete eyesite, but the rest more than make up for their lack of vision with their incredible musical ability. The band fuses the rhythms of roots Reggae with the ethnic sounds of Brazillian culture; a combination of Portugese, French, English and Spanish. This eclectic variety makes Tribo De Jah truly unique in Reggae music history, even as they pay tribute to Reggae Legends such as Bob Marley, interlacing his lyrics into their infectious songs. Performing world wide at popular festivals such as Reggae SunSplash in Jamaica, and with nine nationally distributed albums, their latest entitled Guerreiros Da Tribo, Tribo De Jah has reached millions with their messages of love, peace, social politics and the divine.
